The Nigeria Hotel Industry Mourns, as one of theirs bows to COVID-19:

The MD and owner of Fancy Hotel, Umugwuma, Owerri. Mr Christogonus Aguwa Osuagwu has died. This happened days after he tested positive to Coronavirus.

As the federal government maintains sealed lips over the identity of the second dead victim of coronavirus in the country, anxiety and palpable fears grip the country, especially as the identity of the second victim come to the knowledge of the Nigerian Hospitality Industry. His name is Mr Christogonus Aguwa Osuagwu; MD and owner of Fancy Hotel, Umugwuma, Owerri. Mr Aguwa was confirmed dead in Abuja on Monday the 30th of March, 2020. He was said to have flown into the country from South Africa and lodged in his hotel, the Fancy Hotel, Umugwuma, Owerri and visited his hometown in Ahiazu, Mbaise before jetting out to his residence in Abuja where he was said to have passed on by Monday morning.

Fancy Hotel, Umugwuma, Owerri

Confirming this to, the GM of the Fancy Hotel Mr Nnaemeka George told our reporter that they are still under quarantine. The State Chairman of the Hoteliers Association of Nigeria, Mr Chima Chukwunyere, who also confirmed this news, said the Imo State Hospitality Industry is morning at the loss of Mr Aguwa, He said the Association is making efforts to send relief materials to the hotel to support the staff and guests who have been on lockdown now for days. Mr Chukwunyere told our reporters the association is sending diesel and other relief materials to the hotel.

Mr Christogonus Aguwa Osuagwu has been battling with kidney and elephantiasis health challenges prior to his been struck by the deadly virus. May his Soul Rest in Peace. Amen!

According to the State Ministry of health, the hotel is still very much on lockdown, as occupants of the hotel remains isolated for 14 days to observe them for symptoms, the ministry has also moved to quarantine the Mr Aguwa’s village where he visited and the villagers will be observed for 14 days also for symptoms. If anyone from either the hotel or the village is seen to have symptoms he or she will immediately be taken away for further analysis and tests to confirm for Coronavirus or not. The Government of Imo State has approved the WODI Center, on Orlu Road, Owerri as the State Isolation Centre.
